Opening ceremony of the World Finance and Banking Symposium 2015
On 17th December 2015, the opening ceremony of the World Finance & Banking Symposium was officially held at Nguyen Van Dao Hall - Vietnam National University, Hanoi. The symposium was organized by the VNU University of Economics and Business (UEB) in collaboration with the organization committee of the World Finance and Banking Symposium, held in Vietnam for the first time.
The symposium aims to strengthen academic exchange as well as practical experiences, at the same time, provides a forum for scholars and researchers around the world to discuss issues related to banking and finance.
Attending the opening ceremony, there were Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Hong Son - Rector of the UEB, Prof. Joao Paulo Vieito – Chairman of the World Finance and Banking Symposium. In particular, the ceremony was attended by nearly 140 delegates from over 40 countries worldwide.
Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Hong Son delivers welcome address at the ceremony
In his welcome address, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Hong Son emphasizes:
"As a member of Vietnam National University, Hanoi – the biggest research-oriented university in Vietnam; VNU University of Economics and Business have always looking for exchange opportunities with universities and research institutes all over the world to develop research cooperation and strengthen the capacity of our lecturers. We also desire to become one of the world’s intellectual destinations, especially in the field of economics, banking and finance."
Right after the welcome speeches of Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Hong Son and Prof. Joao Paulo Vieito, the participants entered the opening session, chaired by Prof. Henrik Cronqvist from University of Miami, United States.
The research of Prof. Henrik Cronqvist focus on analyzing the affects of genetic factors (nature) and nurturing environment (nurture) to financial decisions
With 2 main sessions and seven parallel sessions taking place in two days, the symposium promises to bring views and opinions from different perspectives as well as sharing of practical lessons from countries all over the world within the context of economic globalization.

World Finance and Banking Symposium (WFBS) provides a forum for scholars and researchers to discuss issues related to banking and finance. The symposiums are held annually in countries around the world.
WFBS was held for the first time in 2012 in Shanghai, 2013 in Beijing, China, in Singapore in 2014 and in Vietnam in 2015. In 2016, the conference will take place in India, and in 2017 in Thailand.
